Port of Koper has opened one of the largest solar power plants in the country

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Port of Koper ceremoniously opened one of the largest solar power plants in the country, spanning across the roofs of the general cargo terminal warehouses. The 3.3 megawatt solar power plant will significantly contribute to greater energy independence and a cleaner environment, reducing CO2 emissions by 1,500 tons annually. Annually, the solar power plant will produce as much electricity as over 880 households in Slovenia consume on average. For a project worth 2.8 million euros, the Port of Koper obtained 1.3 million euros from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area, managed by the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development.
