On Monday, April 22, 2024, the ceremonial opening of the Municipality of Koper’s solar power plant took place on the P+R Sonce parking garage as part of the SOPOREM project.
The solar power plant on the roof of the Sonce Parking Garage, equipped with over a thousand modules, has an installed capacity of 459 kilowatts. The plant is expected to produce 505 megawatt-hours of electricity annually, which would be sufficient to supply 50 households each year. The electricity produced will be used by numerous public facilities in the municipality, such as the Arena Bonifika, the pool of the Koper Olympic Center, Central Library Srečko Vilhar Koper, and municipal buildings on Verdijeva Street. In this way, the Municipality of Koper will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 186 tons annually. Together with the new solar power plant in the Port of Koper, CO2 emissions will be reduced by over 1,500 tons annually.
